Pedagogy ProjectsAn important aspect of Summer Writing Institutes is to create a pedagogy project centered around a topic of a participant's choice. These projects, whose stories are detailed below, are tied together by their focus on writing, creativity, equity, and acceptance but each are unique in order to suit the context and needs of the learning environments for which they were designed.
Educators from every stream, as well as those interested in education more generally, have created pedagogy projects and, as such, a wide variety of grade levels and big ideas are covered here. The stories, perspectives, and reflections of our teacher leaders' work is detailed in the links below. For those interested in adopting the projects themselves, each is accompanied by a list of theoretical reading and practical resources recommended by the project designers themselves. We invite you to explore. |

She has focused the work in this project to support male elementary students articulate their identities and reflect on social issues by sensitively integrating their interests in violence and warfare into classroom learning. In addition, she has also sought to apply responsive practice to students with autism and with interest in popular culture.
